| Our North American
season ending trip. Join us for a trip to the Cascade Mountains of
Central Oregon for a week at the Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort near Bend
Oregon. It is also close to Crater Lake, a “stratovolcano” which
erupted about 6,850 years ago.
It collapsed
to produce Crater Lake, one of the world's best known calderas and a
beautiful lake. Don’t be concerned about snow on this trip - the area
has an average snowfall of 370 inches and has 100 percent snowmaking
capacity! Our home there will be the River House Lodge nestled along
the banks of the Deschutes River. The River House Resort Hotel offers
some of the finest lodging amenities in Central Oregon including it’s
award winning restaurant..
You will
receive a 5 day lift ticket. Mt. Bachelor offers you a wide variety of
skiing opportunities. With it 71 trails, vertical drop of 3,365 feet
and 13 lifts, you can easily find something to your level of ability.
We will be traveling from Portland by rented automobile, so we will
have vehicles at your disposal.
Walking, shopping or dining in historic downtown Bend will
enhance your vacation experience. Drake Park's Mirror Pond, the jewel of
downtown Bend, is a small lake with ducks, Canadian geese, and a pair of
swans from Queen Elizabeth's royal swannery in England. The wide
stretches of green grass provide a restful counterpoint to the old brick
and masonry buildings that compose Bend's business area. Galleries,
restaurants, outdoor eateries, boutiques and specialty shops are all
within easy walking distance. Farther from the downtown area, the Old
Mill District, located on a site previously used for lumber mills,
features upscale shopping, trendy restaurants and an outdoor
amphitheater which is used for summer concerts.
