2007 - 2008 Ski Trips!!!! |

Dear
Friends and fellow skiers;
Welcome to the 20th ski season
for Gateway! It always seems early, but the first ski adventure is less
than six months away!First things first - nothing has happened to reduce
the cost of jet fuel. As a result , the costs are still higher than in
the past, but the growth has slowed a bit. Last year, our “fuel
surcharge” and taxes on the international flight was about $250.00. As
of now, they are about $310.00. While the domestic airlines don’t
really call it a “surcharge”, their higher prices reflect the fuel cost
increases. However, we have been able to find some bargains and work
with the hotels to provide reasonably priced trips for you. We are
offering you three great trips this year - big Mountain, Montana;
Zermatt Switzerland; and Taos, New Mexico. As we write you, we are
still waiting for the specifics on a southern hemisphere trip. We are
looking at Chile and potentially, cost not being prohibitive, a
combination of 5 days skiing in New Zealand and 5 days beaching in
Tahiti! Our Annual European trip is a return to one of Gateway
favorites - Zermatt, Switzerland with an extension to Florence, Italy.

We are returning this year to the site of
our 2000 trip. Located on the Swiss / Italian border just north
of Milan, Italy, you will ski from Zermatt across the border to the
Italian resort of Cervinia, Italy in the shadow of the Matterhorn.
Zermatt is a picturesque village which is vehicle free. You also have
available to you the nearby Swiss ski areas of Saas Fe and Crans
Montana. Lift up from Zermatt in the morning and then ski down to
Cervinia for lunch before returning in the afternoon. Our home there
will be the Perrin Hotel which is centrally located in the village with
the bus stop just out your front door. In addition to the usual modern
amenities, the Perrin has a hot tub in the hotel and access to an indoor
pool. You can quickly access and ski any part of this huge ski area.
Breakfast and supper daily are included in your trip.
After your 7 nights in Zermatt, you
can either return home or travel with the group to Florence, Italy for 4
additional nights. We will travel by bus to Florence, with a couple of
stops at interesting sights along the way. This trip will include round
trip air from St. Louis to Zurich; 7 nights with breakfast and supper
daily in Zermatt; transfers & taxes; then bus transfer to Florence for 4
nights with breakfast; and return flight home. |

Ski for 6 days at Taos
Ski are in the New Mexico Highlands. Our home there will be the
Sagebrush Inn in Taos which offers you live entertainment nightly. The
ski area is a 15 minute transfer from Taos. Your stay will include
breakfast. You will have access to wonderful restaurants and artisan
shops in Taos as well as day trips to Santa Fe or the Taos Pueblo - a
community that has been continuously occupied for 1,500 years!!!.
Something special on this trip; Salomon Ski Company will provide you
with “demo” ski equipment during our stay. If you wanted to test skis
out before you bought them, this will be the time. The trip includes
your air from St. Louis; 7 nights with breakfast; and a five day lift
ticket. Note: this trip will get cheaper! We are currently booking
air through United as Southwest does not give us fare rates until
later. We intend to change to Southwest in December and should have a
direct flight to Albuquerque as well as a cheaper one!!! |
